Welcome to the Pelargonium for Europe Media Centre

When it comes to diversity, few summer flowers can compete with geraniums. Their blooms come in a variety of colours and shapes, and their decorative foliage can be velvety dark, fresh green, or covered in delicate patterns. This low-maintenance floral beauty not only shine in balcony boxes and containers, but also as a versatile cut flower for bouquets and arrangements, bringing summer right into your home. Dr Susanne Lux, styling and plant trend expert at Pelargonium for Europe UK (PfE) shares her inspiring ideas for summer bouquets and creative craft projects, with practical tips on using geraniums as cut flowers.

As the heatwave intensifies the prospect of outdoor dining becomes ever more appealing but portable BBQs are such a serious fire risk that they’re being actively discouraged by the upland managers and rangers desperate to prevent more devastating wildfires. The advice is to pack a picnic instead, so why not make a real occasion of it and put together a day out that will drive everyone mad with envy on Instagram. Dr Susanne Lux, horticultural expert at Pelargonium for Europe UK, shows how it’s done.

Geraniums come in a wide variety of colours and growth habits. There’s very little difference between the many cultivars in their requirements for location and care. Plenty of space, plenty of light and regular watering and fertilising are the main requirements for this easy-care beauty to flower non-stop from spring to autumn.

With abundant blooms and bright colours, geraniums are the epitome of summer. Elegant wooden planters in a modern eco-chic style perfectly show off these easy-care flowering beauties. Tip: These gorgeous regal pelargoniums were originally grown as houseplants. Outside, they need a sunny spot protected from rain and wind. Geraniums have a wide variety of colours, leaves, flowers and growth habits. To ensure these easy-care plants thrive, make sure you plant them in large enough containers, with good quality potting compost and a good drainage system. Geraniums are ideal summer flowers for families. With their colourful flowers, they add a summery feel and create a cheerful atmosphere. They are also perfect for getting children interested in gardening: they're easy to look after, hardy and will grow and flower even if the little ones don't do everything right when it comes to taking care of them.
